What's the difference?

You may have heard us talk about trying theine instead of caffeine. Not that we don't like coffee, but most people don't realize that caffeine is in coffee and theine is in tea. They're almost the same molecule, but with almost imperceptible differences in the way the atoms are connected... and of course delivered in an entirely different chemical environment, as is theobromine in cocoa. And there are other kinds of alkaloids in nature, too.

But we know green tea is special. For over a thousand years, humans have used tea to refresh, revive and enjoy.

While green tea is usually served very light, when concentrated its theine is a powerful metabolic booster, creating a "high" that is much smoother than coffee or chemical caffeine.

Dragon Pearl Tea has agreed to be one of the sponsors of the Tweety Awards, which recognizes the best Twitter sites in various categories.

"We think the Tweety Directory is an easier way to view Twitter," explains Judah Sanders, co-founder of Dragon Pearl Tea. "It makes Twitter more clear so even people who don't participate in Twitter can understand it and get immediate value from it."


TweetyDirectory.com is a directory that allows users to view multiple Twitter feeds on one page and browse through Twitter by category.

We went to the London Ballroom in West Hollywood to serve organic green tea and Super Natural green tea shots at the Alive Expo Emmy pre-party, where stars of popular TV shows are introduced to eco-friendly companies with all-natural products.

We served our fresh organic green tea, Super Natural tea shots and Purple Dragon cocktails. Pretty soon the room was filled with glamorous people drinking Purple Dragons, and everyone kept coming back to say how great they felt after drinking at least one green tea shot!

...and the Purple Dragons were extremely popular!

Judah, Chris and Dave served tea shot samples today at the New Times 2010 Music Awards. As usual, we set up our tent and our Dragon display... but this time was different.

We were serving our new Super Natural green tea shots, and we felt a lot of love! People commented on how they loved the flavor and ingredients, and many on the way back remarked "I feel good!" We actually sold some cases on the spot.

A terrific band, JD Project adorned the San Luis Obispo Mission courtyard with their blues music and had us rockin'. Memorable and stylish under their own modest method, they played several great tunes, including the award-winning Freight Train. Watch it here:

Why Fruit Is So Good for You

It's true: fruit is one of the healthiest things you can eat. Even for diabetics, if you eat fruit carefully (some fruits are high in natural sugars) it provides fresh nutrients from nature you can't get anywhere else.

Making the Strongest Green Tea

Here's a quick video clip of part of the manufacturing process-- one of the last steps, which is packing the finished bottles into 12-packs.

The process takes about 36 hours to complete, starting with brewing the green tea with as many leaves as we can get into the water and infusing the tea into purified water until it's a dark brown concentrate.

Then the fresh-brewed super-tea is pasteurized, mixed with fresh blueberry, purple grape, pomegranate, and acai berry juices.

The supershots are finally flash-pasteurized and aseptically bottled. (More about how the tea shots are brewed)

Nutritionist Warns Against Energy Drinks

Dragon Pearl's Tea Shots Featured as a Healthy Alternative

Nutritionist Aaron Snyder was featured on San Diego's Channel 6 yesterday. He discussed energy drinks and energy shots with reporter Marc Bailey, and talked about the effects of too much caffeine on the body, especially diabetics.

Aaron says that drinks like Monster, Red Bull and 5-Hour Energy are basically a rip-off that give you way more caffeine than needed to stimulate the body, and make you crave sweet and fatty foods.

He also discussed Dragon Pearl's Super Natural Tea Shots, saying that three cups of green tea is the ideal "lift" for the human body, providing the maximum dose of natural caffeine for humans.
